Biography

Deborah K. Wright is a member of the law firm of Wright & Kirschbraun, A Limited Liability Law Company on Maui. Deborah was originally licensed to practice law in both the states of Oklahoma and Texas in 1977 and 1978, respectively. She practiced law with the firm of Passman & Jones in Dallas, Texas, from 1978 until her move to Hawaii in 1987. At the time she left, she was a shareholder in the corporation and had practiced primarily in the areas of general business litigation, including antitrust and securities fraud in both federal and state court. Deborah was admitted to the State Bars of Oklahoma and Texas, the Northern District of Texas and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii in 1986 and was admitted to the State Bar of Hawaii in 1987. She has since been admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.

In 1987, Deborah moved to Maui and became of counsel to the firm of Case & Lynch in charge of its Maui litigation. She practiced with Case & Lynch until her partner/brother and she established their own firm in October of 1990. Deborah’s practice at Case & Lynch was primarily in the area of civil litigation, real estate and, additionally, some business law. She continues her practice in these areas at Wright & Kirschbraun.

Deborah was appointed to serve on the Maui County Charter Commission from 1991 to 1992 and has since been appointed to the Disciplinary Board of the Judiciary from 1992 to 1998, Maui County Community Television, Inc. Board of Directors (concerning Maui’s community access channel) from 1992 to 1995, and the St. Anthony High School Board of Directors, and has served several terms on the Maui Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors. She co-chaired the Hawaii State Bar Association Committee on Professional Responsibility and its development of a professionalism course.
